As long as the person doesn’t have anything on you they can put online for revenge, it’s likely a change you need.

It’s not a person, it was just a fitting image. Something might be changing on the job front really soon.

I don’t think there’s anything that they could really do to me anyways.

Don’t burn bridges as a rule for living. Just walk away (with 2-weeks notice...). Karma will catch up eventually. You do your part correctly and you will be ok. Them? Karma will catch up eventually.

At least you have Monday off.

Will your next employer have any reason to contact your former employer for a reference or anything?

I’m going to do the right thing and handle it professionally. We had someone just basically quit and it’s fucked a lot things up, as much as this place has irritated me, I at least owe them a smooth transition. They gave me a job after being unemployed for a while.

So I posted what I want to do on oppo, knowing that I’m not going to do anything irrational.

Don’t believe so, and I’m pretty sure the new place has already contacted my references.

Been tempted many times, but have never really done it.

Have you given notice yet?

I wonder if I would have the self restraint that we preach to others. I hope so.

walk away - any additional ounce of effort on your part with respect to them is waste. Then then go hot shoe some awesome road for an hour, (with in the letter of the law of course.) And don’t punch anything, (coming from somebody who broke a finger in the process of putting a whole in a wall when I was younger.)

I’m not going to do it, as much as I want to.

Haven’t put in my notice yet, they’ve been slow with getting me the offer. I got the official call today at like 2:45 when I was in a meeting.

Because I like to make things hard on myself, I’ve got a phone interview for a frac consulting job in Colorado on Monday.

I rarely make rash decisions. Even if they are irrational, they are carefully calculated.

I’ve gone through that with every job I’ve quit. I think about it, plan it, then don’t do it.

Nice - free trip to Colorado at least. Enjoy -

Me and another engineer at my former company always used to talk via lync how we’d quit. Go up to our manager and say, I’m having computer problems. It works and everything I just don’t know who to give it to because I quit.

He eventually ended up quitting. He didn’t do anything like that.

I thought of new ways to quit everyday at my old job. In the end, I did it the most professional way possible. Oh well, it’s fun to day dream. haha

I’ve done that - asked individual lawyers to be a reference instead of the firm itself. People who knew what I could do, not the people who fired me because they needed office space.

The teachings of Kenny Rogers apply when it comes to leaving jobs, but it’s slightly different.

Sometimes you keep the bridge, sometimes you burn it, and sometimes you nuke it.

Everyone should do it once in their life. It’s so damn satisfying! I knew I was moving out of state, and would never go back to this company. Nor would I likely see any of them again. I quit on a Friday afternoon, via an email (Manager was based out of a different city) stating “I would of done the respectful thing and given 2 weeks notice, but you’ve never respected any of US. This is my resignation!”

I had to pack anyway and I knew he’d just want me to spend the last 2 weeks doing knowledge transfer.

The next week I got a call from the HR Manager wanting to do a “survey”, which she assured me was just standard procedure whenever someone leaves the company. I could tell by her questions she already suspected what the problem was. He didn’t last a year after I left (could just be coincidence but I like to think I played a small part in that).
